Advanced Meet & Greet (reactive dog class) Enroll Now!!!

AMG is Good CitiZEN Dog’s signature class. No other training group in western Washington does this class as effectively or so we’ve been told. We have graduated well over a thousand dogs and grateful dog owners from this amazing class who, after completion found a new “leash on life” - pun intended. This class is primarily geared to help dog owners gain more control of their dogs, primarily on leash. The class helps dogs that range from simply overexcited all the way to “fear-based” behaviors when encountering others on leash.

Whether you have an older rescue dog with an impoverished play or social history or a dog you’ve had since it was a puppy, this class will help you achieve an expert level of handling skills. Using de-sensitizing and counter conditioning techniques, the dogs gain confidence in social settings while limiting and reversing patterns of unwanted behavior. It is a fabulous class and is taught by Deborah Rosen, who designed, developed and refined it over the last 15 years.

Make your walks and time spent with your dog more enjoyable to you and those around you.

Puppy II (Intermediate Puppy)

This is the second level class in the basic obedience series and is designed for slightly older puppies, generally between 5 and 10 months. This is a 6-week class with a increased focus on basic obedience skills, extended impulse control, including "down/stay" and a longer distance recall (come when called). We still have plenty of on and off-leash play and interaction with other dogs and people. We break for play a little less, but there is still plenty of structured playtime to monitor the pups "play skills" and to encourage them to make new friends and play well. under our watchful supervision.

Like human children, It is important to continue training and educating your puppy as it gets a little older. This is the time to manage any fear and gain greater control, in general, before it becomes a problem. Owners learn even more in this class about how to be a fantastic dog handler. Puppy II is SO important for continuing your pup's education and your own.

If you missed our Puppy Kindergarten but have an older puppy and you want to jump into this class, it is recommended that you do a private session to bring your pup's and your skills up to the right level. For more info, please contact Deborah@goodcitizendog.com

Puppy Kindergarten (The Best and Most Fun!)

Anyone who wants their "new addition" to be an integral part of your family unit will sign up for this amazing class. It is the premier puppy training class in all of Western Washington. It is a 6-week class designed to cover all the basics of puppy training and care. (Puppies are somewhere between 8 weeks and 6 months old). The initial focus of these classes is to provide intensive on and off-leash socializing opportunities and exercises for the puppies to encourage a sense of confidence and well-being, and to reduce fear.

Unlike many other first level puppy classes, we focus a great deal of time on basic obedience training, with an emphasis on attention and focus exercises (ZEN), impulse control and a variety of skills, including recall, (come when called), no jumping and leash walking. And, we are educating dog owners to understand how to communicate effectively in order to properly train their pups.

Our puppy training classes are also incredibly fun and way more interesting and educational than anywhere else! It's a MUST DO!

***Please note! We recommend at least the first set of vaccines, but this is a controlled environment and chance of exposure to Parvo or Distemper is extremely low. In 17 years of conducting this class we have not had one case reported.

Advanced Obedience (AKC Canine Good Citizen Certification Class)

This class is designed for older puppies over and adult dogs with at least an intermediate level of training experience and skill. This challenging 6-week class focuses on basic obedience and will wrap up with the AKC CGC (Canine Good Citizen) certification test. There will still be plenty of on and off-leash socializing and supervised playtime, but we will spend much more time in this class working on building more reliable skills. This class is meant to “seal the deal” on your training and set you up for the lifelong relationship you want with your best furry friend.

We will pay a great deal of attention to helping the dogs “generalize” all of their skills and make sure you have success with the skills that are most important, with and without distractions. We will also do more advanced attention and focus exercises, develop a great “recall” from a distance, with distractions, and achieve amazing impulse control. Distractions in class will make training at home much easier.
